  • PhD Position
    Added: 11th June 2010

Title: Irradiation of cold molecular nanosystems by (20-150keV) protons

Location : Institut de Physique Nucléaire de Lyon-Université de Lyon in the IPM group

The Institut de Physique Nucléaire de Lyon is seeking applications for a three years Ph.D studentship on the experimental investigation of ionisation-induced processes in ultra-cold mixed clusters, funded by the COLDIRR Project (ANR programme Blanc 2010)

More information regarding the position including contact information can be found in this pdf

  • Postdoctoral position in in biological applications of synchrotron radiation available at the Institute for Storage Ring Facilities in Aarhus, Denmark. (added 27/02/2007)
  • Assistant Professor position at the University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France (added 06/03/06)

An Assistant Professor position will be created in Toulouse and a part concerns radiation damage (group of P.Moretto-Capelle, A.LePadellec, IRSAMC, LCAR, Univ.Paul Sabatier Toulouse, France)

Our group will study collisions between fast low-charged ions and small gas-phase neutral bio molecules (DNA, RNA bases, nucleotide..). Protons ions will be produced using the Toulouse accelerator. Its energy range (1-150 qkeV) covers the Bragg Peak range which is of major importance in radiotherapy. Collision induced fragmentation of molecules as well as secondary electron emission during the collision are investigated . The latter are important for radiobiology, since they can interact with other neighbouring molecules in biological medium and cause DNA damages as shown by the L. Sanche group (Sherbrooke University). Therefore it is very important to measure their corresponding kinetic energy spectrum as well as angular distribution. In order to gain the maximum information on the final state, electron spectroscopy will be done in correlation with the charged fragments of the bio-molecule.
