The EBIS: We have modified the resistor chain on the acceleration tube in order to improve the focusing properties, but were unable to see any effect. After measurements on the various elements, we fear that an internal connection may be broken. The EBIS will now be opened, and the connection to the focusing tube made external, such we will have greater freedom in adjusting it.
The computer group reminds us to make a CD-ROM backup once in a while. It may be especially important right now, with the new millenium coming up!
