ISA meeting

Week 21, May 20, 1997.

Status of the ring: The 138Ba- run last week for TA & Co went well, after some initial difficulties.
The connection to Faraday cup 1 is broken. It must be fixed soon, preferably before the cluster run next week. It will take an hour or so to fix, and a night for baking.
It seems that the slight 50 Hz modulation of the beam experienced by the laser group during the previous run has been fixed. TK discovered that some of the ionization gauges were incorrectly connected, and changing that seems to have helped.
KI would like to make a long (~ 1-2 weeks) bakeout of the cryo pump, since there seems to be a lot of water in it. This will have to wait until the next shut down in week 30-31.

Our new server still has problems. TW and KTN have been working on a reinstallation, but the new machine turns out to be unstable. A new one has been ordered, but as a result, it will still be a while before everything is back to normal.

The electron cavity is now being taken apart, KI reports. The new plungers have been constructed, and the drawings will now go to the workshop.

The ELISA project is still going well. The parts are getting ready, and the support frame is being made now. SPM presented ELISA at a conference last week, and there was much interest in our new machine. It will be put together this summer.
