ISA meeting

Week 12, March 18, 1997.

Status of the ring: Ring operation has been fairly smooth in the past week, Accelerated currents are usually in the 160 to 180 mA range, and lifetimes are good: from some 10 hours at high currents to 20 hours at 125 mA.
For short periods of time, we have been running with an unexcited beam (reduced lifetime) for testing the Miyake monochromator. We will do so again for a few hours tomorrow, while the SX-700 group is mounting a new sample. The exact times will be posted on the screens once they are known.

Beam during the Easter vacation: It is planned to provide beam for the users every day during Easter. In the period from 27 to 31/3, there will be at least one injection per day, at 10:30.
Changes to this plan will be posted on the screens in the ring hall.

The undulator beamline: The was a lot of discussion about the best way to proceed. It will probably be mounted without the mirror chamber, in order to get it ready fast. The present plans call for a bakeout during Easter, such that it could be ready for the initial measurements and tests after Easter. DF has a visitor from Berlin coming on April 9th, and would of course like to have the system running by then.
The work is delayed because of the coming Easter vacation (27-31/3 incl), where both KI and JV are away.
