ISA meeting

Week 9, Feb 25, 1997.

Status of the ring: Yesterday we had 180 mA accumulated in the ring, and this morning, we accelerated a little more than 150 mA to full energy.

We have had some problems with accelerating large currents, but it seems that some of them are solved now, so we expect to get more current to full energy in the coming week.

Due to the undulator, we must run in the dispersive mode, but we can do so, even with the undulator closed (to 26 mm) without affecting the beam very much, and while maintaining a good lifetime (~10 h).

The undulator beamline will be set up starting this week, KI reports. Initially, we will just look at the radiation from the undulator using a flourescent screen and a camera. There may be some adjustments to make in order to get the light in the right spot.

The Miyake monochromator is performing well. JvE, FF et al have obtained very good resolution, which is independent of the spot used on the grating. With a 10 micron slit, it is however important to find the right part of the mirror to use. This work will continue this week

The new diagnostic system is working well, but we still need client programs. These are currently being written by the computer group, TW reports.

The ISA Meeting Reports are now accessible on the www. If you look at the ISA Status page, there is a link to the report page near the top. The report page has a listing of all the reports (in 1997). Just click on the one you want to see. The address of the report page is http://isals/isa/reports

Therefore, this will be the last report automatically emailed to our 'subscribers'. You can still get the report mailed to you, but you must ask me to continue to do so, by sending an email to .

Those of you who now get the report on paper will continue to get it, but please let me know if you can use the www-service instead.

As always, the latest report is posted on the bulletin board at the control room, and a complete collection of reports are kept in the meeting room next to the control room.

Other www news are, that we will start to put some pictures on our web pages. You can see one (our undulator) via a link from the Feb.18 entry on our status page.
