Facility Description

He isotope mass spectrometer, the GV Helix SFT, the first instrument installed in Europe. Double Flight tube for simultaneaous 3He-4He collection

Facility Applications

Analysis of the isotopes of helium in rocks and minerals. Determining the origin of gases in meteorites and ET return samples, dating surface exposure with cosmogenic 3He.

Sample requirement : minerals of interest (e.g., olivine, pyroxene) must be separated and cleaned before analysis. Other possible samples include submarine and subglacial basalts. Please contact CRPG for further information on sample requirements.
