December 2008   ISA awarded money to build ASTRID2

2009

 
January 2009   Design of ASTRID2 started
August 2009 Preliminary design report for the ASTRID2 ring sent out for review.
7th September 2009   Fast magnets with power supplies for ASTRID2 ordered
7th September 2009   Girders with magnets for ASTRID2 ordered

2010

 
January 2010   Multi Pole Wiggler (MPW) for ASTRID2 ordered
February 2010   Order of main power supplies for ASTRID2
2th December 2010   Extraction kicker for ASTRID received
6th December 2010   Main dipole chambers for ASTRID2 ordered
8th December 2010   Ion pumps for ASTRID2 ordered

2011

 
January 2011 The ASTRID2 ring hall is empty and construction on the podium has started
7th January 2011   Gate valves for ASTRID2 ordered
February 2011 Utilities required for the ring are being installed.
18th February 2011   The ion pumps for the ring were delivered
24th February 2011   Gate valves for the ring were delivered.
23rd March 2011 Supports for the magnet girders were put in place.
April/May 2011 The magnets for the transfer beam line were installed
20th June 2011 The multipole wiggler was delivered
28th June 2011 The first extracted beam from ASTRID
28th June 2011 First two girders for ASTRID2 delivered today
29th June 2011 The first girder for the ring has been installed. Girder 2 has been placed on its supports in arc 5 of the ring.
6th July 2011   First extraction of beam with ASTRID running in booster mode (22 second cycle time)
20th July 2011 The last four girders for the ring have been installed.
21st July 2011   First section of the transfer beamline under vacuum, in preparation for further extraction diagnostics.
26th August 2011   Installation of the power cables for the dipole and quadrupole magnets commenced.
20th September 2011   The concrete blocks which will be used to build the radiation shielding are being placed in the basement.
21st October 2011   First vacuum! Section 1 of ASTRID2 is now under vacuum.
2nd November 2011   Section 1 of ASTRID2 is now being baked.
6th February 2012   Half of the ASTRID2 ring is now under vacuum and has been baked.
Section 2 bakeout was completed today, section 3 baking will start this week.

Current Status as of Monday 6th February 2012: Half of the ring is now under vacuum and has been baked.
