ISA meeting

Week 21, May 22, 2001.

Status of the ring: Last week, we ran SO2- for the electron cooler group. After some initial problems with the cold-cathode source, we ended up with a stable beam Friday, and the group managed to get good results.
We are now continuing with C2H2-, still for the electron cooler group. We will be using the sputter source, and if it will deliver a stable beam, we should not get any problems, since we also ran this ion in the last ion run.

ELISA is now back in one piece, and is being made ready for a bakeout, which is expected to end sometime next week.

The European Commission has send us an evaluation summary report on our application for support within the programme: Improving Human Potential - Access to Research Infrastructures. We get a very good evaluation, and the total financial contribution from the Commission could be up to € 700.000 (roughly 5 Mkr) over a contract period of 28 months. The contract is now being written, and must be returned to the Commission before June 20.
