Week 11, March 13, 2001.


Status of the ring:The microtron is still unstable, which means slightly lower currents in ASTRID; 170-180 mA. Furthermore the occational beamlosses have been traced to originate from a quadrupole supply (QMV21). Exchange of thyristors in this supply is planned for tomorrow at 7h00.

The manipulator for the SCIENTA chamber at SGM1 broke down in the weekend. A new gear has been found at VG and will be installed later in the week.

UV-1 is doing very fine. CD spectra have been accumulated down to 165 nm! Several users has already used the facility and more are coming in the next weeks.

The EBIS has produced around 100 nA of Ar9+. Next it will be tested with Xe.

Laser absorption experiments are succesfully made on ELISA on different biomolecules (AMP, chromophores).
