ISA meeting
Week 10, March 6, 2001.
Status of the ring:
After the chromaticity change last week, there has
been no beamlosses in ASTRID. However, after
the microtron "improvement" last week, there has been problems with
the microtron. The problems are suspected to
originate in the trigger circuit for the thyratron in the
high-voltage modulator. When spareparts are available, a repair will be
performed. Meanwhile, we have to accept
somewhat lower currents in ASTRID; i.e. initial currents around 150 mA instead
of the usual 190 mA.
UV-1 is back in operation, and the CD
performance looks very good. The spectra can be obtained down
to 167 nm. Presently, the CD beamline is being used by Peter Thulstrup from
KVL.
ELISA is running biomolecules from the
electrospray source.
The EBIS is being tested and improved. It
is now able to deliver a few 100 nA of Ar8+.
