ISA meeting

Week 1, January 2, 2001.

We wish all of you a happy and successful New Year!

Status of the ring: The changeover to electron operation started this morning.
This time the new undulator chamber with 22 mm gap is being mounted. It has been baked during the holidays.
In corner one, a valve and a window will be mounted. This port will later be used for a test beamline for the TESLA FEL beamline.
In the injection beamline, the broken connection on Faraday cup 4 will be fixed, such that EBIS tests can take place during the electron run.
Cooling water hoses on dipole 4 will be changed to the new type, as the old ones started to give problems in the previous run.
We plan to start baking this week, so with a little luck, the first electrons will be in the ring next week. Week 1 and 2 will be used to get the ring ready, and in week 3 we expect to make at least part of the time available to users. Initially, poor lifetimes are to be expected due to the fact, that 1/4 of the ring has been vented, and the new undulator chamber has been mounted.
The schedule for the electron run is available on the www at http://www.isa.au.dk/schedule/01SRRun.htm

We have decided to apply EC for financial support under the program SUPPORT FOR ACCESS TO RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURES. See e.g. http://www.cordis.lu/improving/calls/ari_200003.htm. The deadline is February 15th.
For information and details, please contact SPM, who also will need input from several IFA and ISA staff members.
