ISA meeting

Week 39, September 26, 2000.

Status of the ring: During the past week, we have had high currents and good lifetime most of the time. There have been a problem with instabilities in one of our quadrupole supplies, which due to its intermittent nature is very difficult to diagnose. Several things have been tried to correct the problem, and we now hope it is OK, but only time will tell. In addition to this problem, we have had some troubles with the cooling water. Most of this has been fixed, but there is still a problem with a bad bearing on one of the cooling tower fans. We hope it will keep running for the next two weeks, i.e. until the end of this electron run.

Monochromators: The LEED filament for SGM I has arrived. It will be mounted next Monday. The people from Haldor Topsøe are now users on the SX-700 monochromator.

The computer group reminded us to take backups regularly. Remember that is your own responsibility to do so. Only files in your USERS directory are backed up when you activate the backup system, so this is the right location for your important data!

The extension of the present electron run until Oct. 11, 08:00 is now approved.
