ISA meeting

Week 37, September 12, 2000.

Status of the ring: The ring has been running very well during the past week. Stored currents have been up to 200 mA. The lifetime has been lower than normal, since we have reduced the amplitude of the vertical excitation. This reduces the vertical size of the beam, which gives higher intensity in most monochromator experiments and an improved short-time stability of the beam, but at the same time a lower lifetime. The only station not happy about the reduced beamsize is the X-ray microscope, which does not get an uniform illumination of the object. As a compromise to satisfy all users, we have again raised the excitation level to an intermediate value. We will continue to use this value until further notice. Check our status page for current running mode.

The first CD measurements were made last Thursday evening on the UV1 beamline with great success. Congratulations! The first users (from Copenhagen) are here now, and have so far been happy with the results they have obtained.

Stuart Lunt is leaving us at the end of October. He will go back to the UK to work for Vacuum Generators.
