ISA meeting

Week 10, March 7, 2000.

Status of the ring:: ASTRID is running very well. Three days in a row we have reached 200 mA, which is an all-time high since the undulator chamber was installed. The lifetime is in the order of 20 hours at this current. The reason for the high current is a good microtron pulse, and of course superior alignment of the machine!

The Free Electron Laser in the TESLA test facility at DESY, Hamburg works! Laser light was generated a few weeks ago. Read more about it at http://www.desy.de/expo2000/en/fel_works.html.

Nordic summer school on Synchrotron Radiation for research students has been announced; see http://www.maxlab.lu.se. All costs will be paid by the school!
