ISA meeting

Week 6, February 8, 2000.

Status of the ring: The ring is running well. Accelerated currents are typically >150 mA now, with lifetimes > 25h.

The SX-700 is back in operation. The problem last week turned out to be a burned-out lightbulb in a linear encoder.

The SGM-3 grating was unfortunately damaged during the gold coating process. It will be sent to us as it is free of charge, such that we can work with it, until a new one has been made. The high energy grating has been used for the first time, demonstrating a resolution of <5meV at 60eV (i.e. a resolving power of > 10000), which is very good!

The SGM-2 is running well. It is being used by DF et al. Unfortunately, the guests who should have been here, are held up by the hijacking at Stanstead Airport in London, so the Afghan crisis has far-reaching consequences!

The SGM-1 horizontal focusing mirror has been realigned, but still needs some adjustment. There is lots of flux, but another factor of two could probably be gained.

Danfysik now has a letter of intent from the new Canadian Light Source, which will be constructed at the University of Saskatchewan. ISA is involved in this project as consultants
