ISA meeting

Week 37, September 14, 1999.

Status of the ring: The ring has been running well during the past week. Currents are typically 140 mA, with lifetimes in excess of 30 hours. Sunday the microtron had cooling water problems, so the beam from Saturday remained in the machine until Monday at noon, when the microtron was ready again. At that time, the current was about 50 mA, with a lifetime of about 70 hours!

Electron Run 2/99 will be run for two more weeks than originally planned.. It was scheduled to end in week 39, but will now end in week 41 instead.

The SGM 3 gratings are now expected to arrive in about a week, which means, that with the extension of the beamtime it will be possible to get beam in the monochromator in this run.

All monochromators including the x-ray microscope are active, and things are reported to be going well.

The EBIS will deliver its first beam in the new beamline later today, if everything continues to go well. It will be a beam of ions from the residual gas, but later a separator beam will be used.
