ISA meeting

Week 32, August 10, 1999.

Status of the ring: The ring has been running well, with currents around 140 mA, and lifetimes of 20-30 hours. We have, however, had some unintentional beam dumps due to an error in one of the quadrupole supplies. We are still trying to determine what causes the error.
A larger heat exchanger has been installed on the sextupole/correction dipole supplies.

Monochromators: Both the SX-700 and SGM-1 are running well, but SGM-1 has to be opened, probably next week, to have the LEED curtain exchanged.
The predicted delivery time for the SGM-3 gratings from SPECTROGON is now 3-4 weeks. If this holds, production of the UV-1 grating is scheduled to start late September.

The Ba- run on ELISA, which ended 3 weeks ago was at least partially successful. After the data have been analysed, the experiment will be continued.

Our server, KUPNU, had a fatal hard disk error last week, and was out of operation for a few days. The computer group has now mounted a new disk, and after reinstalling everything, we are back in business. TW will let you know via email when it is fully operational, such that you can make backups again.

The X-ray Microscope will be started this week, to ensure that everything is OK for the users, who will come next week.

The EBIS is now being started again, and is planned to be ready for the next ion run.

The next ion run, starting in week 42 is getting closer. Therefore, if you are aware of things which need to be made/changed for the run, please let us know as soon as possible.
