ISA meeting

Week 14, April 6, 1999.

Status of the ring: The ring has been running well during the Easter vacation, apart from some small problems Friday. We now get 160-170 mA of stored current, still with very good lifetimes.

The group from NBI will be back this week. They are expected to arrive tomorrow, and to use our 580 MeV extracted electron beam for the remainder of this electron run. It will be used to test high energy detectors. To extract the beam, we will set the septum magnet to a high field, but this will not disturb the SR-users.

The SGM II users have some problems with vibrations in their setup. We will try to determine the cause during this run.

The SGM III optical elements are now expected at the end of April, unfortunately not in time for tests during the current electron run.

The EBIS motor generator broke down last Monday, when the shaft which couples the motor and the generator broke. It is now being fixed.

ELISA is running well: The fullerene/cluster measurements have ended, and now LHA et al will start running C2H2-.

A group from ISA visited DESY last week to take part in some X-ray tomography measurements, which went very well. This is something we would like to continue on ASTRID II.

The 1999 Particle Accelerator Conference last week included two contributions in which ISA is involved. One on ELISA, and another on the ANKA project. You can read the contributions on-line by clicking above, or see the entire program by clicking here.
