ISA meeting

Week 9, March 2, 1999.

Status of the ring: The setting up of the ring for the electron run is still proceeding well. We are able to inject larger currents than can be stored at high energy. At the moment we are at 130 mA. Today we will try to increase the lifetime from the present 10-15 hours to the 30-hours level we ended with in the last run.

The monochromators are in generally in good shape with the following comments.

SGM II is back in operation with a resolution of 2 meV, and a good flux.

SX700 is being baked with the sample for the first experiment.

SGM III has had light (well-focussed) on the entrance slit after having fixed the vertical-mirror holder. Further progress will have to await arrival of the gratings.

ELISA is back in operation running fullerenes and clusters.

The visit by 'Grundforskningsfonden' last Friday was very positive and we are all optimistic about ASTRID II.
