ISA meeting

Week 7, Feb. 16, 1999.

Status of the ring: The Mg+ run ended yesterday morning, and it was successful. The new fast camera was able to follow the beam down below 1 nA, and provided useful information and lots of data. The new laser beam positioning system was also found to be very useful!

Modifications for Electron Run 1/99 are proceeding as planned. The RF-cavity and undulator chamber have been mounted, and are currently being baked. The bakeout will stop tomorrow morning. We plan to start injections Thursday, and if possible, leave a stored beam in the ring overnight for degassing of mirrors etc.

The microtron has been having some problems with the RF system recently, but we hope to have it up and running again before Thursday.

ELISA has now been baked, and will be back in operation on Thursday. The first run is C60 for JUA and Phv. The vacuum in ELISA looks good!

The control system may be unstable for the next few days, since a number of modifications and tests are planned. The FEC01 server will be replaced with a faster CPU, and year 2000 tests will be made. Everything should be back to normal by the end of the week.

The EBIS will be prepared for operation next week, when work on the ring finishes. At the same time, a beam scanner will be mounted near the separator to determine the beam profile.

Ruth Laursen will be absent from the Institute for several weeks starting February 22nd. Birthe Møller Christensen will partially take over from Ruth during this time. This means that Birthe will stay in Ruth's office and work approximately half-time for ISA.
