ISA meeting

Week 4, Jan. 26, 1999.

Status of the ring: The experiments by the electron cooler group (LHA et al) finished during the weekend, and the ions used since last Tuesday were H2O+, HDO+ and CO++. Although not without problems, the run was quite successful. Currently, we are investigating an exchange of the acceleration tube of the injector separator, in order to improve on the HV stability (sparks!) of the injector.

The run at ELISA is presently stopped for modifications and new installations in the machine.

The schedule of the next Synchrotron Radiation run is finished and can be seen on the ISA homepage
http://www.isa.au.dk/schedule/SRschedule99.html#run1

Following the departure of Robin Medenwaldt, Stuart L. Lunt will take the responsibility of the x-ray microscope until further notice.

The new SGM III monochromator is being pumped up to the end of the exit slit. Well done! The modifications of the new laboratory for the Philip Hofmann and the LEED laboratory are almost ready.

The microtron is back in operation with a good pulse (10 mA, 1 msec.) for positron physics.

The following will also be published in IFA nyheder: Changes following the leave of Karsten Rasmussen:
1: Maintenance of ion sources used at ISA will be made by Jens Vestergaard.
2: Leak-testing at ISA/IFA will be made by Jens Vestergaard.
3: Maintenance of roughing pumps at ISA and IFA (- tandem) will be made by Torben Hyltoft Thomsen.
4: Repairs of turbo-pumps at ISA and IFA will mainly be made at the factory.
5: Thomas Hjort will be employed for another year at the mechanical workshop from 1999-02-01.

The Århus University annual report is soon due, and for this we need your publications for 1998. Please give a list of your papers published in 1998 to Ruth as soon as possible and no later than 11-02-1999.
