ISA meeting

Week 42, Oct. 13, 1998.

Status of the ring: During the past weeks, the ring has been running well, and almost 24 hours a day. Current is now typically 140-150 mA, with lifetime at full current about 30 h.
This electron run will continue for another 2 weeks, and end on Wednesday morning, Oct. 28. The cavities will then be exchanged such that the following weekend can be used for baking. Ion Run 2/98 will start on Monday Nov. 16 (Week 47).

The new injection beamline is proceeding according to schedule. The separator will be started next week for the initial tests.

The Onduline now has the last chamber under vacuum, and the detector has been mounted. Bakeout will start this week, and the first experiment is scheduled to start next week.

The 1998 ISA User Meeting will take place on Monday, November 16. There will be oral presentations and a poster session, so you should start to prepare your posters now!

SGM II shows good flux and a resolution of a few meV, which is within a factor of two of the design value.

The X-Ray Microscope runs very well, and is now able to take images in phase contrast, thereby giving improved detail in some types of images.
