ISA meeting

Week 37, Sept. 8, 1998.

Status of the ring: The ring has been running very well during the past week. We have good and fast injections, and generally reach more than 150 mA of stored beam. Lifetimes are in the 15-20 hour range.

The Unduline is now running with ions, while the reaction chamber is being baked. This will be finished in a few days, after which ions and light can be merged.

The SX-700 has been running well. The Copenhagen group has finished the first half of their measurements, and have now switched to the second sample.

The SGM I is being baked today, and while this is going on, the second monochromator motor will be changed.

The SGM II is being coupled up to the end chamber, and work will continue with optical alignment.

The new injection beamline is coming along according to schedule. The cable trays are nearly finished, and cabling will start today. The support for the EBIS chamber will be ready this week. It is very important, that things are ready such that commissioning can begin some time before the start of ion run 2/98.

The new control system will be ready for the next ion run. Some of the missing parts are almost finished. TW is working on the FAF-loader, which takes care of our RF-frequency ramps, while FA is working on the systems necessary for electron cooler operation.

The Nordic Ring Meeting is being held here on Oct. 8-9 1998. A tentative program has been made. The program, and other related information can be found on our web site. From the ISA main page, choose 'Meet ASTRID'. Here you will find a link to the Nordic Ring Meeting. The direct link is http://www.dfi.aau.dk/isa/nordic98.htm
