ISA meeting

Week 26, June 23, 1998.

Status of the ring: Yesterday, we started preparations for a He2+ run for the electron cooler group. Extra pumping was installed on the separator and the injection beamline, since the pumps in the ring have a poor pumping speed for He. As of today, the group is still working on getting sufficient He2+ current out of the source.

Last week, SVH, NH and SL visited Daresbury for discussions on monochromators and beamlines mainly with respect to ASTRID II. We had a good trip, made some valuable contacts and learned a lot about what to do, and what not to do.

Backup of our workstations is again running normally, TW reports.

The SGM I: JV is currently mounting a new motor on the SGM I monochromator. SVH hopes to test it this week.

The electron cavity still has a water leak. It was not as simple as we expected to fix it, but KI estimates that it will be OK very soon

Other projects: Both the kicker, the onduline, the new injection beamline and the SGM II are progressing according to schedule.

The EBIS has been opened, and the source of the collector problem was found. There are other problems with conductance from the various electrodes to ground. UP is currently working on it, and still hopes to have it back in operation before the visit of Leif Liljeby.
