ISA meeting

Week 44, Oct. 28, 1997.

Status of the ring: The new dipole chamber is mounted and is OK, but there is a small leak in the laser section. The leak is in a flange, so KI hopes to have it fixed today, such that the bakeout can start late today.
The was also a leak in the separator, but this has been fixed. We plan to start the separator tomorrow.
Detectors and windows at corner 4 will be mounted next week, since they will not be needed for the first week of ion operation. The ion run starts on Monday.

The EBIS is under vacuum, and was baked last week. KR was successful in fixing the leak on the switching chamber, so the vacuum looks good. JH and NH will start testing the electrostatic switch next week.

The new control system is now in control of the separator. This part will be tested tomorrow. All ELISA parameters are also entered into the system

The valve problem we experienced in the last run has hopefully been solved. The problem was, that VVS 21 and 22 would close for no apparent reason, thereby dumping the beam. TK has found an open input, which could be responsible for this problem

The cooling systems have been cleaned by Erland Christensen. He found a lot of dirt, especially in the quadrupoles, so hopefully the problems we had recently are gone.
