ISA meeting

Week 43, Oct. 21, 1997.

Status of the ring: The new chamber for corner 1 is finished and has been leak tested. It will be mounted tomorrow. After that, the laser line and RF modifications will be made, such that bakeout can start early next week.
TK has finished the modifications of the vacuum interlock system, and JH is currently working on the modifications of the undulator bakeout system.
The dipole and quadrupole coils are being cleaned, since we experienced some minor problems with water flow in the last weeks of electron operation.

The new ion injection beamline was presented by SPM, and optics and positioning of diagnostic elements were discussed. The separator should not be moved until tests of the EBIS have been concluded, but work on parts for the new beamline should start soon. LT will make an updated drawing of the beamline.

The meeting on photobiology will be held tomorrow 10:15-12:15 in 525-323. Among the subjects of this informal meeting are possibilities for photobiology at ASTRID I and discussions on the scientific case for photobiology using ASTRID II.
If you want to participate in the meeting and the lunch afterwards, please let Ruth Laursen (tlf 3706) know immediately.

The program for ion run 2/97 has been slightly modified, since LHA's guests for week 46 are unable to come. Because of this, the program for weeks 46/97 and 4/98 have been swapped.
